SESI Refills is a UK-based social enterprise founded in Oxfordshire, which supplies sustainable detergents, toiletries and household cleaning products. Originally known as the School Ethical Supplies Initiative, SESI was started in 2006 in a shed at a local primary school.
Their products do not contain harsh or harmful ingredients, including chlorine bleaches, formaldehyde, phosphates, parabens, phthalates, optical brighteners, and other damaging chemicals. Their products are also safe for septic tanks and normal wastewater systems. They are an Ethical Consumer Best Buy with an ethiscore of 95 out of 100.
♻️ Closed Loop supply chain ♻️
SESI employs a closed-loop refill system, meaning that barrels and tubs used for distribution are returned, cleaned, and refilled. This process ensures that there is zero packaging waste from the factory to the consumer. Every time we order SESI products, they are sent to us directly from their factory using their own vehicles, resulting in a greatly reduced carbon footprint. With each delivery, we receive filled bulk bottles (that you fill your own bottles from to take home), which means your refills are truly zero waste!
In addition to cleaning detergents and household products, SESI also supplies food items and olive oil through a refillable supply chain. For example, they partner in a closed-loop supply of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, utilising bulk 20 litre tubs. These broader product offerings increase the impact of refill shopping by enabling more types of goods to be supplied to us through a circular supply chain and helping customers reduce plastic waste across more categories.
Through their refill model, SESI helps customers reduce plastic waste: they have reused or refilled over 5 million pieces of packaging to date.
